Goodwood Revival 2014

Twyford Moors stand at the Goodwood RevivalWhat a difference twelve months makes! This time last year I was shivering, snivelling and sneezing due to the cold I had caught from a weekend on our stand at the Revival. Those who were there will remember it well; the wind, the rain, the flooding and the mud. This year could not have been more different and I am happy to report I am in perfect health and have even got a little bit of a tan.

So the weather was perfect and as Roy Salvadori once said "Give me Goodwood on a summer's day, and you can keep the rest". Further to this it was a great year for Jaguar enthusiasts with the Lavant Cup celebrating 60 years of the Jaguar D-Type on top of the usual (and I use 'usual' in the loosest sense of the word) C-Types and light weight E-Types in the TT, Sussex Trophy and Freddie March Memorial Trophy.

Jaguar XK140 chassis at the Goodwood RevivalWe had some special guests on our stand this year in the form of a fabulous SS100 which we had for sale and attracted much attention, the lovely Kerry Le Bern who entertained us all weekend with her wonderful Jazz singing and we were thrilled to see some of our customers who had travelled all the way from Australia to visit the Revival. We also had several XKs for sale and a fully built up XK140 chassis fitted with our electric power steering, disc brake conversion, five-speed gearbox and other upgrades (click here to find out more about our range of modifications and upgrades). To top off all these treats this year’s Revival also saw a rare gathering of our director Nik Rochez's whole family. Harry, one of Nik’s sons, is part of the Twyford team but to find all six of them together in one place is rare. We took the opportunity to get a photo of the family on the stand with our XK140 chassis. A final pleasure for us was finding out on Sunday afternoon that one of our Jaguar XK150s had come second in the Peter James "best in show" competition. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Johnson!

Jaguar D-Type race at the Goodwood RevivalWe also managed to get over and enjoy much of the racing. The D-Types in the Lavant cup were a real joy to watch and it was great to see so many D-Types being raced as they were intended to be. My racing highlight has to be the TT where there were some real hair raising moments. It never fails to impress us just how hard the drivers push the cars at the Revival. This is proper racing! Well done to everyone who drove, all the owners who allow their precious and rare cars to be used and to all of the wonderful mechanics who work so hard to make this motorsport spectacle happen.

Amongst other highlights this year were 'Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer' playing a set on the Saturday night, the ever entertaining 'Chap Olympics', chatting to the charming Theo Gillam of Practical Classics, the ever excellent company of Robert Coucher of Octane magazine and catching up with so many of our wonderful customers at the show. We once again take our hats off to everyone who works so hard to make the Revival happen every year and would like to thank the whole Goodwood team for another fabulous year.
