Preparation for the Vietnam to Myanmar Friendship Rally 2018

Jaguar XK140 and XK150 prepared for rallyTwyford Moors have been preparing an XK140 and XK150 for a 5000 mile rally in South East Asia. The Vietnam to Myanmar (and back again) Friendship Rally starts in February 2018 and we will be sharing updates from these two Jaguars along the way.

There is a lot of time and effort that goes into preparing cars for this kind of trip. From mechanical upgrades to sump guards Twyford Moors offer a bespoke service to fit the needs of any XK trip whether it be a gentle tour to a tough rally such as this. We also sort, prepare and pack spares kits so you can rest assured you will have just the right parts for your car.

Straight 8 Logistics collecting rally carsThe work to get these cars ready has just been completed and our transport partners Straight 8 Logistics collected the cars this week to be taken to the shippers. From there the cars will be loaded into shipping containers and shipped half way across the world ready for the event to start in February 2018.

This event is run by The Global Rally Organisation and here's what they have to say about it:

Vietnam to Myanmar rally 2018Vietnam to Myanmar

5000 miles (8000km) of spectacular driving through five countries…

Five countries form the backdrop to a journey through spectacular scenery and a multitude of cultures in South East Asia. The rally will explore both coastal and mountainous scenery in southern Vietnam including the delta of the mighty Mekong river. In Cambodia it will stop at both the much visited Angkor Wat and the lesser known Preah Vihear ruins, taking in rivers, waterfalls and the scenic Cardamom mountains.

The journey through Thailand encompasses interesting towns, temples and the ruins of Sukhothai as well as scenic roads. A mountainous route leads to Myanmar (Burma) with the temples of Bagan, markets, the beauty of Inle Lake and fabulous driving through Shan state. A brief return visit to Thailand, includes the night markets of Chiang Rai and the Wats of Nan in the ‘Golden Triangle’.

A crossing of the Mekong river and the golden temples of Luang Prabang are features of Laos before the precision paddy fields, spectacular mountains and local people in North Vietnam. Throughout the journey colonial influences sit alongside the surviving regional cultural cultures.
