Twyford Moors XK150 wins down under

Jaguar XK150 and E-TypeCongratulations to Margaret and David Irvine on another concourse award for their beautiful Jaguar XK150 DHC. Margaret’s XK150 has won Bronze in the Concourse d’Elegance at the National Jaguar Rally at Jells Park, Melbourne, Australia. The XK had stiff competition in the form  another XK, several very nice 'E' Types and even an ultra-rare SS saloon. Unfortunately, by the looks of the photos, such a large gathering of British classics seems to have caused some distinctly British looking weather.

The Irvine’s, who live in Australia, purchased their XK150 from Twyford Moors Classic Cars unseen after seeing it advertised on our website and discussing the car at length with Ian. They then commissioned us to do several jobs on the car before it was shipped to Australia including mechanical work and a full re-trim. The car then had a deep clean before being shipped in order to pass the extremely strict standards set by Australian quarantine. Through this whole process the Irvine’s never saw the car in the flesh but relied on photos, emails and phone calls to keep them up to date.

Prize winning Twyford Moors XK150 DHCThe first time Margaret and David got to see their beautiful XK150 was once it had landed on Australian soil and passed quarantine. We are very pleased to say that they were over the moon with the car and it more than met their very high expectations.

Since receiving the car Margaret and David have entered it into several competitions and won three bronze medals. They are now working towards a silver with various improvements such as the recent addition of period ‘J’ lamps and we are doing our best to advise them along the way. We have built such a good relationship with the delightful Irvine’s that they came over to visit us at the workshop last September and then accompanied us to the Goodwood Revival. We are pleased to say that they enjoyed it so much they are planning the same trip again this year with children and grandchildren as well. We are very much looking forward to meeting the whole family. Let’s hope for better weather than last year’s Revival though.

Once again congratulations on another medal and fingers crossed for a Silver at the next event. We would love to see the car in the UK again one day; it would look rather good on our stand at the Goodwood Revival!
