The little black box pictured here is a very clever bit of kit. It is a tracker which can be very discreetly fitted to your classic car. Classic car theft thankfully seems to be rare but when it does happen it can be devastation. To many of us our classics are like a part of the family. Not only that but they are valuable assets which are worth taking care of.
We have seen an increasing demand over the past decade to fit trackers. Many of the systems out on the market require some quite invasive alterations to the wiring and if they ever go wrong leave your car undrivable. The system we like to fit has been specifically designed by classic car owners for classic car owners. It integrates into the car with minimal alterations and can be subtlety hidden away so no one but you knows it is there.
This provides a whole host of functionality from very basic security up to tracking history and printable trip reports. You can set safe locations and receive SMS (text message) and email alerts if the car leaves one of these locations. You can receive alerts if the car is moved without the ignition on. The system alerts you if your cars battery is low which can be quite handy if the car is in storage for winter. These functions only scratch the surface though.
On your computer on mobile phone app you can track the car in real time using a live map. You can isolate the ignition remotely so if you are leaving the car you can disable it or if the worst were to happen you can disable the car so it can no longer be driven. The subscription provider will even liaise with the police to rapidly recover your classic. There are also a number of configurable inputs and outputs which can be connected to trigger from an alarm system or to send an alert if the doors are opened. The unit features an internal battery so will continue working for some time even if the cars battery is disconnected and it will send an alert if the battery is tampered with. Another useful function is that the system records your journeys so you can export a map of where the car has driven and get an accurate reading of the milage covered. Finally, the system has global coverage so you will be covered even when touring abroad.
