Jaguar XK150 SE DHC RHD 1959 – for sale

This Jaguar XK150 is a genuine and very desirable Special Equipment model (SE). It is an original UK, right-hand drive car and was first sold by V J Collett in Bourton on the Water. V J Collett continues to trade to this day and their website features some rather charming period photos of the garage which mostly dealt in Rootes Group cars at the time.

The first owner was Lady Sherborne. The Baron of Sherborne dates back through the Gloucestershire-based Dutton family to 1784 so it is rather nice that this XK150 retains its Gloucestershire-issued number plate of YDD130. Interestingly records show the car was painted in a non-standard colour of Midnight Blue which one assumes was a special order for Lady Sherborne.

In the late 1980’s this XK150 was restored. There is a photograph of this work included in the history file. In more recent years the car has been retrimmed and extensively upgraded to create a very reliable and enjoyable car to drive. In 2015 Twyford Moors carried out a full engine rebuild to fast road specification. At this time a five-speed gearbox, alternator conversion and electric cooling fan were also fitted. This car is further improved by colour-matched inertia seatbelts, a period radio which has been upgraded to receive FM and a Brantz rally meter.
