Mike Hawthorn Memorial Track Day - Goodwood Circuit Wednesday 3rd July 2024

After the success of the 2023 Mike Hawthorn Memorial Track Day the organisers have booked the track again for Wednesday the 3rd of July 2024. In addition to the opportunity to take your Jaguar out on the legendary Goodwood Motor Circuit the event promises to be bigger and better than last year featuring some fantastic displays.
Last year this was a fantastic day thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere really captured what the classic car community is about at its best. The day featured a wide variety for cars ranging from Jaguar MK1 and MK2 saloons to modern F-Types. A real highlight was a parade lap and grid display of more MK1 saloons than I have ever seen in one place before.
For 2024, in alongside the on-track action, there will be a display of former Tommy Sopwith Equip Endeavour Team cars. The Equipe Endeavour team was active from the mid 1950’s through to the early 1960’s with many different cars at various times. These included the 3.4 Jaguar Saloon race cars of the late 1950’s regularly seen Goodwood Revival, but there are a lot of other cars from the team including MK 2 Jaguars, Project ZP ‘E’ Type’s, including the first ’E’ Type to race and win in the very capable hands of Graham Hill at Oulton Park in 1961. The team didn’t only race Jaguars, many other cars were in the team over the years, including Aston Martin’s, Cooper’s, Lotus, and Ferrari. The team scored many successes with some very capable drivers, Tommy himself, in 1958 then, Jack Sears, Ivor Beub, Mike Parkes, Graham Hill, Stirling Moss and many more. So far, we have seven former team cars attending, and they are awaiting further responses from several other current owners. This display should be of real interest.
The track day is limited to 60 cars and at the time of writing there are only 10 spaces left. A healthy 105db noise limit means that most cars will be eligible and roadgoing XKs and E-Types won’t have anything to worry about. This event is suitable for novices with much guidance and advice available from the fabulous team at Goodwood on the day.
