Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club TrackSport Day

Goodwood Motor Circuit 2024

On a rather pleasant Tuesday in May, the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club took over Goodwood Motor Circuit for the first of their 2024 TrackSport days. The JEC has recognised the need for accessible and inclusive motorsport events, allowing a broad audience to easily participate.

As many will know, motor racing these days requires you to hold a specific license and for cars to be prepared in such a way that meets the stringent safety standards for competitive motorsport. Few would argue that this is anything other than good sense, increasing safety for all involved. These barriers do, however, mean that the days of privateer drivers using their XK120 during the week and then heading to the track at the weekend are long gone. The cost and complication of motor racing in 2024 put it beyond the reach of all but the most committed. Fortunately, JEC TrackSport events have been created to open up the sporting element of Jaguar ownership to a broader audience.

These events have been curated to cater for everyone from the complete novice to the experienced track day driver. If you want to enjoy driving your Jaguar at speed in a friendly, safe, and secure environment, these are the events for you. They even offer the opportunity for passenger rides in some very impressive track-prepared Jaguars. The events are open to all club members with road-going cars, regardless of model or era of Jaguar.
What better location could there be to kick off their 2024 TrackSport season than Goodwood? The event was very well attended, with 60 cars on track (split up into smaller groups), and there was a great friendly and relaxed atmosphere around the place. The cars in attendance were a real mix to delight all Jaguar enthusiasts. Out on track, there was a huge variety of cars, including E-Types, XKs, XJSs, all the way up to modern S-Types, X-Types, and F-Types. On display around the paddocks were some other truly wonderful cars, including our XK140 DHC, an Eagle E-Type, and an XJR15, to mention but a few.

The JEC has two more upcoming TrackSport events this year. In August, there is a hill climb at Harewood Hillclimb, and in September, there is a track day at Castle Combe. I am sure both of these will be wonderful events and well worth a visit.
