Last weekend, we were in Birmingham for the NEC Classic Motor Show. The brilliant event sees specialists, clubs, and suppliers from all over the country take over five huge halls at the NEC, creating a mecca for classic car enthusiasts. It’s fantastic to see such a diverse group of visitors each year, from old-school enthusiasts to young families with children.
This is such a valuable opportunity to engage with future enthusiasts, and we certainly do our best to welcome young people onto the stand and allow them to have a good look at the cars.
Every year, the event coincides with Remembrance Day on the Sunday. It is genuinely moving to be present as the huge halls of the NEC, full of thousands of people, fall silent at 11 a.m. This moment of respect and reflection never fails to have a profound impact on me, even after attending the show for many years.
This year, we had a great lineup of cars on the stand. For sale, we had an XK120 FHC, a fully restored XK140 DHC (which sold from the stand), and a Series 2 E-Type OTS. Finally, we had an XK140 chassis that we have built up as a demonstrator. This chassis has been fitted with everything from electric power steering (which is wired up for visitors to try) to a five-speed gearbox. The chassis really drew a crowd, and it’s great to be able to show the work that goes into our restorations, not just under the bodywork but also to showcase our upgrades. This XK140 is, in fact, one of the Jaguar 1955 show cars and is available to be completed to the buyer's specification. Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss having this special restoration completed for you.
