The Gomm-Jaguar Special

Some months ago we were approached by Mr Charles Fripp to discuss helping him in building a Jaguar XK140 Special. Mr Fripp is the previous owner of Twyford Moors and a dyed in the wool Jaguar enthusiast so any project Charles is undertaking is well worth being involved in. This Special is to combine an XK140 chassis, which we will be building up with race specification suspension, and a very rare Gomm body.

On a sunny and beautiful afternoon Mr Fripp pulled with a large trailer. Inside was the beautifully prepared grey chassis and the front end of the Gomm body which were quickly positioned in our workshop. After Ian Mills (Manager of Twyford Moors) and Mr Fripp had gone over the chassis and body work begun immediately. This will not be a simple project given the level of modification necessary to fit the new body to an XK140 chassis but when finished this should be an extraordinary race car.
