This Jaguar E-Type is a desirable 3.8-litre model which, being a later car, features the dished floor that provides improved comfort. It is an original UK, right-hand drive example and left the factory in April 1964. The car was sold by Eton Garages in Slough to Couture Lingerie Limited of Grays in Essex. It is hard to imagine a more quintessentially 1960s scene than a Jaguar E-Type parked outside a lingerie designer’s, with glamorous occupants stepping out of the car.
By the end of the 1960s, the car had been exported to Europe. It subsequently received a comprehensive and well-documented restoration in the 1990s. At this time, it was upgraded with an electric cooling fan and uprated front brakes. The extensive history file records the restoration work as well as maintenance carried out since.
This is a running and driving car, having been driven here by the vendor, but it is in need of some attention. There are several bodywork defects, including paint damage around the bonnet louvres. Mechanically, the car requires some recommissioning, largely involving rubber bushes and a carburettor rebuild. Please do get in touch for more information about these items.
This car has been priced to reflect the work required, allowing an enthusiast to complete the work themselves or have it carried out here, ultimately resulting in a very good-value E-Type. This Jaguar could make an ideal winter project, ready to be enjoyed in summer 2026.
