Jaguar XK140 DHC 1956 – For Sale

This Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupé was exported to the USA in late 1956. Its first owner was Guy Lindsey of Florida, and the car was originally finished in Arbor Green with a Biscuit interior and Fawn hood. There is little information about the car's early life, but it appears to have been well travelled, having reached Vancouver by 1989 before being imported back to the UK in 1990.

More recently, the car has been the subject of a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration by its owner, with assistance from many highly regarded specialists, including ourselves here at Twyford Moors. The extensive history file contains invoices from many of the most respected names in the classic Jaguar world. Completed in 2023, the restoration has been carried out to a very high standard, and the car is now fully registered in the UK.

Now finished in Silver with a Blue interior and matching Blue hood, this XK140 presents beautifully. The panel fit is excellent, the chromework gleams, and it is clear that great care has been taken with every aspect of the build. The car has also been extensively upgraded to improve its usability, including front disc brakes, a pedal box conversion, upgraded suspension, a five-speed gearbox, an alternator, an aluminium radiator, an electric cooling fan and electric power steering.

The car remains in its original left-hand-drive configuration, making it an ideal choice for European touring or export. Alternatively, it could be converted to right-hand drive if preferred.

Out on the road, this XK140 is a delight to drive. It feels exceptionally well put together and inspires confidence from the moment you get behind the wheel. The handling is precise, the XK engine is eager and responsive, and the five-speed gearbox makes relaxed motorway cruising effortless.
