This is the first of two tubular steel chassis cars built in the early eighties' by the founder of Proteus, Jim Marland, and was the show model depicted in the original sales brochure.
The Proteus steel chassis was completed with all aluminium bodywork and the rear sections were braced with alloy stiffeners like those used on the 1953 Le Mans-winning C-Type.
This replica is fitted with a 3.8 liter XK engine from a 1963 E-Type coupled to a four-speed all-syncromesh gearbox with overdrive. Breathing via triple Weber 45DCOE carbourettors the engine produces 290 bhp gross.
