Jaguar MKII 1967 Convertible – RHD – Ex-Noel Gallagher – For Sale

This 1967 Jaguar MKII Convertible is a truly unique and exceptionally rare car, blending iconic 1960s style with tasteful modern upgrades. Originally a four-door MKII saloon, this car underwent a high-specification transformation in the 1990s by renowned specialists Vicarage—commissioned by none other than Noel Gallagher of Oasis.

At the time, Noel had yet to acquire a driving licence, but felt that, as a successful musician, it was time to get both his licence and an appropriate car. He chose this 1967 Jaguar MKII—the year of his birth—as the perfect project. The two-year restoration timeline suited him perfectly, giving him time to learn to drive.

The result was an elegant and highly bespoke MKII Convertible. The rear doors were seamlessly removed, and the front doors expertly extended. It features a fully electric hood and window system, inertia-reel seatbelts, power steering, electric cooling fan, alternator, and automatic gearbox—making it one of the most usable and civilised MKIIs on the road today.

Upon completion, the car was delivered to Gallagher’s home. In a now-famous anecdote, Noel recalled watching the delivery from his kitchen window, momentarily admiring the car and thinking, “Lovely car on the back of that truck—I’d love to get one of those someday,” before realising it was in fact his.
Although never driven by Noel himself, the car was cherished and kept in professional storage for many years. His wife occasionally drove it, and the car featured in a High Flying Birds music video, driven by Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

In 2022, the car was acquired by Jaguar Land Rover Classic and continued its high-profile life. It was featured in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II, with Twiggy riding in the back—a fitting tribute to the car’s Swinging Sixties spirit.

Today, this MKII Convertible remains in stunning condition. The paintwork, interior, and chrome are all superb, and the quality of craftsmanship by Vicarage is evident throughout. Mechanically, the 3.8-litre straight-six engine provides ample torque, delivering a relaxed yet confident drive. It may not match the sporting feel of a Coombs-spec MKII, but it excels in comfort, style, and usability.

With space for four adults and luggage, it offers a rare blend of practicality and glamour. Whether cruising the seafront or taking pride of place in a collection, this MKII Convertible stands as a unique and celebrated piece of British motoring and music history.
