Jaguar XK150 FHC 1959 – For Sale

This Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupé was originally exported to Jaguar Cars New York in late 1959. Finished in Cream with a Black interior, its first owner was Dr A Marshall of Meredith, New Hampshire, USA. The car was purchased by Mr J Rich of Virginia, USA, in 1995 and repatriated to the UK in 1997.

The car remained in Mr Rich’s ownership until 2009, during which time it underwent a body-off restoration. It was repainted in Indigo Blue and retrimmed in Grey. No stone appears to have been left unturned during the restoration, with extensive bodywork carried out and a full mechanical rebuild undertaken. The car was also converted to right-hand drive and upgraded with a five-speed gearbox at this time.

In the hands of a new owner from 2009, the car was extensively upgraded for modern use. This work included the installation of a high-torque starter motor, electronic ignition, alternator, electric power steering, electric cooling fan and header tank, polyurethane suspension bushes, an upgraded anti-roll bar and four-point seat belts, amongst other improvements.

This is an extremely capable and driver-focused XK150. The engine feels powerful and smooth and, combined with the very quick and direct-feeling five-speed gearbox, makes the car feel impressively swift to drive. The handling is composed and provides plenty of feedback, while the power steering makes the car remarkably easy to manoeuvre.

The paint, chrome and interior are all in good order, while details such as the bonnet strap, passenger footrest, four-point harnesses and stopwatches give the car a subtle motorsport-inspired feel.
