Jaguar XK150 3.4 S DHC 1959 – SOLD

This Jaguar XK150 is a truly exceptional example: an original UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 3.4 S drophead coupé. One of just 37 built, it is a car of rare pedigree. Add to that its comprehensive restoration by Twyford Moors, a superb touring specification, and its wonderfully evocative original registration mark – UMW 888 – and you have a car that stands well apart from the rest of the market.
Dispatched to Carr’s Cars of Warminster in July 1959, this XK150 was first sold to Mr L. Williams of Frome, Somerset. The chassis plate and Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate indicate that it was originally allocated engine number VS2074-9; however, it is now fitted with V2019-9 – a correct S specification 3.4 engine just a few numbers away. The Heritage Trust notes, "The present engine VS2019-9 was not fitted to another car and must be a factory replacement unit," suggesting the original engine was replaced prior to delivery — a fascinating part of the car’s early history.

The ‘S’ specification XK150 represented the ultimate development of the legendary XK range. As American manufacturers pushed the boundaries of performance, Jaguar responded by refining the XK engine with a straight-port cylinder head and triple 2” SU carburettors — a specification that would later feature in the celebrated E-Type.

Between 2004 and 2005, this XK150 underwent a full restoration here at Twyford Moors, with carefully selected upgrades to enhance its touring capabilities. These include a five-speed gearbox, uprated brakes, an electric cooling fan, alternator, power steering, enhanced suspension and more. The engine was fully rebuilt to fast road specification by Sigma Engineering. Since restoration, the car has been extensively toured across Europe, always maintained regardless of cost. Though it now shows a few gentle signs of use, it remains every bit as exhilarating to drive as it was when first completed.
Presented in striking Indigo Blue with a matching blue hood and gleaming chrome wire wheels, this XK150 is a true head-turner. The interior, trimmed in red, features upgraded bucket seats, seatbelts, a walnut dashboard and a Moto-Lita steering wheel, creating a luxurious and comfortable environment for long-distance driving.

Rare, beautifully restored and eminently usable, this XK150 3.4 S is the ideal classic for continental touring, fast road driving or simply for admiring — guaranteed to make an impression wherever it goes.
