Jaguar XK150 DHC 1957 – For Sale

This Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé was first built in November 1957 and exported to New York, USA. Little is known of the car’s early life other than that it was originally finished in cream with a red interior.

The car was fully restored by Leaping Cats in 2019 and was one of the last cars overseen by John Brown. As you would expect from Leaping Cats, the bodywork is exceptional. During the restoration, the car was converted from left- to right-hand drive and thoughtfully upgraded for modern use. These upgrades include an alternator, electric cooling fan and header tank, hydraulic power steering, electronic ignition, inertia seat belts and uprated brakes. It also features the highly sought-after mechanical overdrive. The car is now finished in maroon with a two-tone grey and maroon interior, a maroon hood and chrome wire wheels.

Visually, the car is exquisite throughout. The chrome and paintwork gleam, and the beautifully aligned body panels are a testament to the restoration work undertaken. The well-considered upgrades make this an easy and comfortable car to live with.

Out on the road, the car has exquisite manners. It feels comfortable, refined and very well put together. The small steering wheel works well with the power steering and will be welcomed by taller drivers. The Moss gearbox is in good order and provides a rewarding driving experience if you are patient with your gear changes or give the throttle a blip on downshifts. The ride is compliant and, with the overdrive gearbox, one could happily cruise mile after mile. This is an XK that offers reliability, practicality and comfort, ideally suited to those seeking a car for touring and road trips.
