Jaguar XK150 FHC SE 1957 - SOLD

Launched in 1957 the XK150 was the most radical step forward in the XK range since the launch of the revolutionary XK120. The XK150 was vastly different in both style and performance from the XK140 it replaced and was a much bigger step forward than had been taken from the XK120 to the XK140. The most striking change was the straighter wing line, widened bonnet and single wrap around windscreen, which replaced the now dated two-piece split screen. This gave the XK150 an altogether more modern look. More generous interior space was also achieved by putting the doors on a diet and the wooden interior was lost in favour of leather clad dashboard and door capping.

The XK150 FHC is, without a doubt, the most practical and best performing of the Jaguar XK range. With more interior space and comfort than the XK120 or XK140 and ample room for luggage the fixedhead coupé is great for everyday use and touring. Jaguar famously pioneered disc brakes on the C-Type race car in the early 1950s and the XK150 was the first production Jaguar to feature disc brakes on all four wheels. This innovation make the XK150 the first of the range to stop as well as it goes.

This particular model is a very early 1957 fixedhead coupé. It was originally sold in the USA and spent much of its early life in California. The car was then imported to the UK in 1988 and received a full and well documented body off restoration in 1989/90. This work was undertaken to the highest standards by reputable and well know Jaguar specialists. Indeed the car has been stored and maintained to the highest standards since and remains in excellent condition.

This car is a very desirable original 'SE' (Special Equipment) car featuring an uprated version of the 3.4 engine with a 9:1 compression ratio and an overdrive gearbox. These features, combined with disc brakes on all four wheels, make this a very potent and driveable motorcar. The car has been built to original specification and is a lovely example of a standard car.

The red leather interior and all chrome work are in excellent condition and the body is very straight. The Old English White paint looks great and is set off very nicely by the chrome-work and the interior. This Jaguar is an extremely smart looking car and has been excellently maintained.
