This Jaguar XK150 3.4 S drophead couple is a matching number, genuine UK right-hand drive car. Only 37 such examples are believed to have been built so this offers an opportunity to own an exceptionally rare piece of Jaguar history. What makes this car even more special is its extensive history file and the fact that it retains its original engine and cylinder head.
Built in June 1959 this XK150 was originally finished in Pearl Grey with a Light Blue interior and a Blue hood. Little is known of the car's early years but by 1964 it belonged to an Otto Pollinger in Kensington. It was then sold to a Leslie Wade who kept the car for the next 30 year. Mr Wade kept a meticulous record of work done on the car and its mileage. When Mr Wades records began the car had 20,500 miles recorded. His last entry in 1987 shows the milage as 47,920. It is believed the car was taken off the road at this point for a few years.
In 1994 it appears the car was recommissioned and underwent extensive renovation work in order to be put up for sale and get back on the road with the milage reading 48,907. At this point, the car was purchased by the current owner who used the car over the next twelve years. MOT certificates and tax discs from 1994 up to 2006 show the car being used and the last recorded mileage as 54,561. In 2007 the car was once again taken off the road this time with a view to carry out a full nut and bolt restoration.
Over the past 15 years, the owner has been gradually restoring this XK150 to a very high standard. As can be seen from the photos the car has not been finished but is very close to completion. All the work has been done to a high standard with respected specialists undertaking the body and paintwork. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Sigma Engineering and has been run. The car has been finished beautifully in British Racing Green and has been covered in a protective film which makes it look poor but underneath it is pristine.
This car offers a wonderful opportunity for the new owner to have the restoration completed to their specification. When finished this XK150 will be of exceptional quality and a very rare and desirable example. To reach completion the car needs the electrics finishing, some mechanical work completed and to be trimmed in a colour of the new owner's choosing. It could also be upgraded to the buyers specification as required if for example electric power steering was required.
